Transition School Visits - New Entrants Starting school is a significant and exciting milestone, and we're here to ensure the transition is smooth and positive for both you and your tamariki (child). Our goal is to support your tamariki in settling into school happily and confidently, laying the foundation for a lifelong love of learning. We value strong partnerships with wh?nau (families) and believe that open communication and shared understanding help make the journey into school a successful one. Leeston School has adopted the Cohort Entry Policy. Cohort entry is only relevant for New Entrant children (first time at school). To read more about Cohort Entry please click the link. To support a smooth transition, we offer two school visits, designed to help tamariki become familiar with their classroom, teachers, and the school environment. We will contact you to arrange these visits. Visit Details: ● When: Tuesday mornings, 9:00 am - 11:00 am
● Schedule: Typically held during the two weeks before your child's start date, in line with the Cohort Entry timeline. Please refer to the annual Cohort Entry table for specific dates.
● What to bring:
○ Morning tea (eaten at 10:50 am)
○ A named drink bottle
● Playtime:Tamariki enjoy supervised outdoor play from 10.30am - 10.50am , followed by morning tea at 10.50am - 11:00 am. This is a great opportunity for them to get to know each other and explore the playground.
